Disengaged clutch release bearing noise????

'90 9KT, 170k miles.
The clutch has been making a noise that sounds like locusts when the the clutch is disengaged and you are just driving down the road. The pitch of the noise does not change with RPMs or road speed. The slightest tap of the clutch pedal will stop the noise with a slight metalic chrip; sometimes noise will go away for a while, most often the noise returns immediately.
As near as I can tell from sticking my head down by the slave bleed valve, the noise is coming from the release bearing. Anyone ever experienced a noisey bearing when the clutch is disengaged? Clutch is smooth and normal.
Changed fluid and rebled
Could the slave cylinder not be releasing all the way causing the bearing to be turning all the time? SAAB replaced the slave when it failed about 35K miles ago- renewed the bearing at that time.
Any way to tell if the slave is fully disengaging?
Any help would be much appreciated before I have the tranny pulled and parts needed.
Thanks to all.
