When my 93 CSE 5 speed started staying in limp home mode, it would run like crap (almost stalling idle) after coming to a stop, it would not idle at all only when cold.
It got to the point where it wouldn't start at all unless I put my foot on the gas (while starting) and kept it running that way. You might be able to get your car started this way instead of waiting for hours for the engine to cool.
I drove it that way for a few weeks until I replaced the TCS valve at the firewall. The resistance of the two coil pins on the valve is supposed to be about 30 Ohms or so. As the coil started failing, the resistance would climb to 2K or more when the engine compartment was warm. Eventually the coil crapped out and the resistance was always high, even when cold.
Replaced the valve for about $75 from EEuroparts. Installed the part in about 10 minutes and the car has been fine for months. Good Luck
