Anti Lock Light intermittant Posted by Everett [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have been trying to diagnose an ABS problem for a few weeks now and I can't seem to figure out what is going on because the light comes on at different times. I suspect the accumlator or the pump because on occasion I can avoid a light at start-up by pumping the brakes a few times before turning the key. This also solves the problem if the light comes on while driving... I just turn off, pump, then turn on again and the light goes out most of the time. Fluid level is good, but I have not checked anything else yet. Wondering if there are any good tips for diagnosing this type of problem. Forgot to mention that the pump is audible at start-up, but sometimes it does not sound too healthy. Is it supposed to be a solid whir or is it OK to modulate a little?
Thanks,
Everett
