I think the stock valvetrain is only good for 6500-6800 rpm. With the overbuilt nature of the Saab engines (especially the bottom end), I think it takes some heavy massaging to get the revs that are normally associated with import 16v DOHC engines. I would think that a built bottom end (forged piston, rods, lightened/knife edged crank) would be necessary to go beyond 7 grand, not to mention converting to solid lifters. Oh and an easy way to get rid of the rev limiter!!. Any body have any experience on this?
