Not sure if you are referring to the left driver axle seal seal or the driver housing o-ring seal. I swapped the housing /driver as a unit on my 89s last summer and while I didn't replace the seal, it didn't look difficult, though you might need a press. To remove the housing I disconnected the strut at the hub and pulled the tripod and shaft out of the driver.. 5 bolts on the housing and it should pull out. Then you can get at the seal.
Last month I replaced the stub axle seal and bearing on the right side and fixed an awful leak. Glad I did it.
