Townsend has a write up that is pretty good, except that I think the charging instructions are confusing.
I use brake cleaner to flush the lines. It is available in one gallon jugs for around $15 and I put it into a small yellow lawn sprayer and use the lawn sprayer as a flush gun. I also bought clear nylon hose to connect the garen sprayer to the a/c hoses. You also need something to blow the flush out. The best thing to use is an air compressor. Never flush the compressor, expansion valve or receiver/drier. Townsend describes using an old vacuum cleaner to help get the flush out. I have never done this. Townsend also discusses using mineral spirits as a flush agent, which I have done, but now would not recommend. Last, wear eye protection when flushing. I got brake cleaner in my right eye last year. It hurt.
There are multiple reasons why you have to replace the receiver/drier while you are at it. You should probably also replace the expansion valve. These parts are cheap from the site sponsors.
