... produces noticably smoother shifts, which were already buttery to begin with. Shifts better in cold weather, too (i.e. -20f). Actually, I just changed mine today!
If the synchro is worn, it may be a little late. Couldn't hurt, I suppose. I don't know how to drain the fluid out of these units, so you may have to rely on some kind of baster.
There is a bolt on the front under which lies a dipstick. It sticks out and has something like a 19mm head. Very handy for filling. If you are unconfident that you have removed all the fluid, just change it a few times. It doesn't hold that much, so why not?
