My '94 cse non-turbo has had a shudder to it as you start in 1st (& reverse) since I bought the car 11k mi ago (92k now.) My first thought was motor mounts, as the clutch was replaced at about 75k mi and the top engine bushings were shot when I got the car. I replaced the bushings and suspected the lower mounts were probably bad too. I went to replace those last weekend (finally warm enough!) only to find they are in good shape - a check of the records that came with the car show the front lower was done in the 70k/mi range (shoulda checked the records first!) What else could be causing this "shudder" feeling - it feels like the engine is "bouncing" in the engine bay, although the shifter does not move excessively. It gets worse as things heat up in traffic... Clutch take up is good with no signs of slippage.
