here goes from memory which isn't too stale.
Probably best bet is to rely on key in the lock cycling it back and forth and trying outer and inner latches. Culprit is most likely dry and old lube in the latch or its rusted. I doubt if the motorized lock unit will have more travel than the key lock. A high temp day might help unstick things so baking in midday sun could be an option.
Work on many cycles to possibly loosen up the mechanism, I don't know any magic to lube spray into the mechanism.
Hip pressure on the door to release binding force on the latch as you try to release it might help, crossing your fingers might do as much good too. Of course burning a Yugo as an offering might be good.
Once you get it open, door cover off and latch removed it can be cleaned and lubed. I just used the white grease as a cleaner to cycle the latch untill the wipe off was clean and then gave all traveling surfaces a small coating of white grease.
The drivers door has a hidden latch behind the mirror R/L switch where the knob has to be pulled and a small flat blade driver goes into the dark recesses to release the latch. Plus all the other fasteners which are visable but doesn't do you squat just now.
