Easy question from a C900/9-5 owner Posted by Andrew [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Hi Folks. Easy question from a C900/9-5 owner, Texron, Wed, 28 May 2003 09:46:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Personally I would Suggest a 2ltre car.. pre ABS and Undoubtedly Pre TCS, Distributor Ignition is a Bonus in my opinion... not as technogically advanced.. but pretty well Idiot proof.
The 2 l engined cars had a lower axle ratio allowing for surprisingly sprightly performance, top speed is still a claimed 146mph.. so no issues there :-)
The 2.3 engines were larger and more powerfull but also had the balance shaft assly.. which in the earlier years at least can charitably described as 'problematic' after some mileage.. and a significantly higher axle ratio.. effectively negating a significant amount of the newfound power.
However I have only driven a handfull of the More Modern 9000's but I did find that perf/fun to drive was notably less than my Son's old 87, and not a large Improvement over the '84 900 T my wife has loved since new.
Admittedly the real trick is to find an old Car in 'worth owning' condition..you would certainly have a good idea as to what to look for by now ;-).. but In your Part of the world Rust deterioration should not be an issue.
I Have no personal bias in this at all as my own current Car is an Acura 3.2tlS
happy hunting.
