Panhard Rod Mounting Bracket Question Posted by DickT [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I posted earlier this week about a thrust angle problem (more left toe than right) with the rear suspension of my 89s with 209k. While checking out the panhard rod assembly per Michael Smith's advice and spraying every thread in sight with PBB blaster, I noticed that the transverse diagonal brace on the mounting bracket is not straight and is in contact with the lower left rear corner of the gas tank. Is this normal? If not, could this conceivably move the rod right and cause my problem? The point on the body where the shorter fore and aft diagonal mounts has some rust but is still solid. The 17mm sway bar has some bend as well. Checked all bushings and no obvious failures or looseness.
Couldn't justify the cost of a complete rear suspension, especially since the axle seems straight, but I've got a panhard rod assembly, shocks, and a heavier swaybar coming from the junkyard. Lots of rusty bolts back there. Should be fun!
