stalling problems on '92 9kt

So a little while ago my car starting dying every once in awhile while sitting at a light. It would be purring along happily, then suddenly thud, nothing. I thought it was wierd of course, but not too pressing until it did it a couple times while driving. Strange thing about the times that it happened in motion, is that it was almost like I turned the car off (compression wouldn't kick it back over). I had to turn the key off then back on again. So I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the ignition, and I thought it was gone cause it didn't happen for awhile, then about two and half weeks later it died at idle again several times in a few days. Now this is what gets me, while I was slowing down to turn off a main street and had the clutch in it drops to like 100 rpms if even that much. I gas it and gas and nothing happens, it was almost like it was going into LIMP HOME, but the manual throttle didn't engage. Its done that a couple times too. I can't figure if I've got more than one problem going on or what. Now if I'm giving the car a little extra gas at a light it doesn't seem to do it. It runs like a champ and passes anything around without missing a beat, its just this wierd dying thing. Sorry for the long message, but its so far from straightforward I thought I'd give as much info as possible.
