That happened on my '88 9000T last year, at 250K + miles. My indie had a reinforcing plate welded in, which worked fine. However, shortly thereafter the flex hose connecting the metal fittings (between the master and slave cylinders) worked itself loose from the slave side fitting. Maybe the stress on the hose from the master failing contributed to this. Something else to keep an eye on...
