I installed a Hyperboost BPV from Stratmosphere (the unadjustable "cheap" kind, though it's not cheap...) about 10 months ago. The reason for this was because I had just installed a Stage 3 re-mapped ECU, K&N air filter, and a JT 3" complete exhaust. Given these mods, the stock BPV would be ripped to shreds.
Since using the Hyper, I've had noticeable turbo lag which I didn't have before using it even with the mods installed. I only have it when I'm starting out from a stop. In speaking with the guys at Stratmosphere, they said I would need to stretch the internal spring (using a ruler, take an initial measurement, then stretch it 0.5" at a time) to "pre-load" the valve. It seems these things are made according to Audi specs, so Saab's need a little extra pre-loading. They now sell an attachment to the valve where you can dial in a pre-load amount (to the tune of an extra $60!!!).
This has worked for awhile, but now it seems my lag is back. I will have to play with the spring some more to see where the "sweet spot" is. The valve itself is very good--it holds the boost in the red zone completely, and does not bleed it off until approaching near red-line on the tach! And with my mods, the boost is much higher psi than stock.
Since you have eaten through numerous Viggen BPV's (which was actually my next consideration, but now I may not), I would say the Hyper is the way to go. It is a piston-style, and much better than the earlier Forge ones.
Let me know how it works out for you.
BTW: is your car stock? If so, I'm surprised to hear that you have gone through so many Viggen BPV's--they should be able to work with the psi output of a stock Aero.
