Can't get the bolt out of the pincher? I found this to be the case, and the solution was to give a shot or two of WD-40, and get a socket on the bolt head, and turn it several turns to distribute the lubricant. Then, replace the nut loosely (to protect the threads) and give it some taps with the hammer. Start gently and work up to a light bash if necessary. The bolt should begin to back out, and you may want to follow it with some light taps with a counterpunch to clear it out.
After that you should be able to get the ball joint outta there. You can use a screwdriver or other suitable lever to gently nudge the thing downwards by bearing against the hub, being careful not to damage the CV boot or ABS notches. Just take your time and believe, and it will come out. I felt a proper fool the first time through this procedure, but the second side went swimmingly after I learned how it's done.
Of course, it's important that you've removed the three balljoint-to-control arm bolts and pulled the swivel member off the control arm or you can't remove the balljoint nohow. No doubt you've already done so, but just mentioning it in case you didn't realize this was necessary.
When it comes time for reinstallation, don't be put off if your new balljoint lacks the original-equipment locking clip at the top. Makes no difference and it will be just fine as the pass-through bolt does the real retaining work.
Use a good size crowbar and lots of patience to move the control arm below the new balljoint and shove the joint on top of it. Watch your fingers and face (and other important parts)! I find that inserting the middle control arm-to-balljoint bolt FIRST greatly aids reassembly, as there isn't enough clearance to reinstall this bolt when the control arm and balljoint are properly in place.
Good luck!
