Bars Leaks works a bit differently than some other products out there, which tend to be the 'clump and plug' variety. With a cold engine, dump the BL into the coolant reservoir, and take the car for a ride. I'd recommend 20 minutes or so, but don't fret that if you drive 19 minutes, the engine will sieze.

The pelletized version is designed for cars with larger leaks. If your car is not showing any leakage problem, I would find the 'regular' BL. This comes in a silver gray bottle, and is a liquid form. I'm not sure where it's available in Canada, but try various autoparts and major discount stores. Down here I even see it in the hardware section of the local supermarkets.

I don't think the pelletized will hurt, but since you're not in a rush, try and find the liquid version.

BL not only stops leaks, but it also inhibits scale, rust, and oxidation, along with lubricating the water pump. Now, if you replace the coolant every two years like we're all supposed to, the additives in good-quality coolant will take care of the same tasks. However, if you're not quite as religous about changing your coolant as the rest of us claim to, some BL is cheap insurance. It's not a replacement for regular coolant flushes, but a supplement.

Also, the heater core on the 9000 is prone to leak. The leaks start very, very small - this isn't a 'fine one day, gaping great crack the next'. BL is best at those early, tiny leaks, and helps keep them small before they get big. Again, cheap insurance.
