You have touched on a subject that I have been pondering for the last couple of years. The issue is not refrigerant compatibility, but hose, reciever/drier, expansion valve and evaporator compatibility.
There was a substantial change in the ac system from 91 to 92. In 1992 the receiver/drier was moved from under the false bulkhead to the right front of the car near the waterpump. The expansion valve was changed to a block type was moved to the exterme right side of the evaporator. This change incorporated into a redesign of the ac hoses. There may also have been a redesign of the condensor, but I am not sure.
I have thought about taking a complete system out of a 93 or newer car and putting it into my 91 since the factory r134a systems cooler better than the converted cars. I have hypothesized that this is the result of the redesign of the expansion valve and evaporator. I am just not sure if the hoses and the evaporator, etc. will fit into the 1991 body. My guess is that they could be made to fit.
You have an additional issue which is that the Seiko compressor uses a completely different hose set up than the Sanden. You might be able to use a Sanden compressor from a 95+ car on your 91 with some tinkering, but the Seiko won't work without major work.
