The dowel pin don't fail by itself but could be damaged Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Wed, 9 Jul 2003 21:13:16 In Reply to: DOWEL PINS TO THE CAMSHAFT PULLEYS - DO THEY FAIL?, CA_Dream, Wed, 9 Jul 2003 15:32:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
by an under torqued cam belt sprocket.
I assume you still talk about a V6 engine?
If you go to the NG900 board and do a search for V6 engine, timing belt, sprockets, tensioner.
You will find more information than you care to read about the V6 engine.
The 3.0L engine in the 9000 is similar to the 2.5L in the NG900 between 94 and 97.
What differs is the intake manifold and throttle body (pretty much).
I seem to remember though that the dowel pin is a solid pin????
The two front cam shaft sprockets have had a tendency to fail (come loose) if they are not torqued down correctly.
