I'm going to assume that when you said "removed head" you didn't really remove the head, but took the sprockets off the camshaft ends. If you did remove the head, you have to replace the head gasket. Again. If you think there is a problem with the sprocket lines, check the index marks scribed directly on the camshafts. There is an index mark on the camshaft bearing cap closest to the sprocket that you match up with the mark on cam. Take the sprockets off the camshaft, line up the marks on the camshaft, then put the sprockets back on with the index line pointing perpendicular to the head plane. Then start with the chain.
I have to ask this. Did you have the camshafts off off the head? Did you by any chance mix them up?
