Hi all,

I'd like to put this to a vote . . . should I finally ditch my Saab? I have a 1991 9000 Turbo CD with a lot of miles on it (217,000, although the engine was replaced about 50,000 miles ago.) I just got the bad news that my radiator has been very nastily leaking tranny fluid into my coolant system and vice versa, which apparently means it's curtains for the transmission. Soooo . . . a new radiator is a must and very likely a new transmission (probably about $3,000 in repairs.) Ouch . . .

Most everything else in the car has been replaced by me or my brother-in-law, who basically gave me the car. It has a working ABS system, air bag, new AC compressor (blows real cold,) new fog lights, brand new headliner that smells and looks great, new antenna motor, new timing chain, new upper motor mounts, new Optima red top battery, new tensioner and serpentine belt, and a great sound system (10-disc MP3 changer in the trunk, XM sattelite radio, Sony cassette and single CD player in the dash.) All power windows and sunroof are in good working order, and the car for the most part is the fastest and most comfortable I've ever driven.

But the bad part is the cost. Man, is it expensive to maintain. Sure, I got the car for basically nothing, but I've spent about $5,500 to date fixing it . . . is it worth another $3,000? What could go wrong next?
