Well, forget about C: the engine was probably the most expensive part on that vehicle, as a used item. It would take too long to sell all the remaining parts to recoup all your money. That leaves A & B. I think either one is your only alternative. You could probably get a grand for it, as is. If you go with plan A, I would buy another motor - maybe, just a short-block. You could use any 2.3 short-block, up to a '93 - doesn't matter whether it's a turbo or non-turbo. You could use the present head - I would probably have it skimmed/planed.
This would bring the compression up to match what the n/a engine has, as the turbo engines used lower compression pistons. There's two benefits, as far as I can see, to doing this: one, the compression will be closer to what a n/a engine should have and two, if that engine overheated enough to cause a connecting rod failure, chances are that the head got pretty hot, too. Try calling a few salvage yards and ask them for a '92-93 turbo short-block - you may be able to get one relatively cheap...HTH
