Whoa damn wipers

This car just continues to get quirkier.
I finally fixed the broken wires leading to the trunk lid (super weak trunk release first, then no trunk release, then no license plate illumination, then short out and dead battery). Well.
I drive home, it's raining for the first time in a while, I spray the windshield washer and the wipers just keep going and going.
And refuse to shut off. I turned the car off, and on, didn't help. I turned it off again and let it sit for a few minutes, turned it back on, whereupon the damn wipers gave a few desultory wipes and then finally stopped. I'm gonna try unplugging the headlight wipers, only one works anyway, hopefully that'll fix it. Does that sound good? I read somewhere on here about a blocking diode or somesuch nonsense.
Last night, I drove down the West Side highway here in Manhattan as the sun was going down, and had an absolute blast keeping up with a 300ZX and a riced out honda. 2nd gear, 4000 to 5000 rpm, dawes device for instant action. Cruisin. Very fun to punch it and feel the car jump instantly, which it never does unless you keep the revs up that high. I wasn't exactly driving like a total maniac, just on the edge of 'acceptable NY behavior'. But I sure had a good time. Gotta love that turbo!
Anyways.
Any wiper advice would be appreciated, I don't know nuthin' about that system yet...
