in my garage. It's the head on my old engine with bent valves (I sold the block and most of the engine parts). There is no mark on either timing sprocket. The sprocket is shaped like a dish. The concave side fit the end bearing cap. There is a mark on the bearing cap. That mark should line up with the cam shaft at #1 and #4 piston TDC. Well, both cam shafts should have marks lined up.
The sprocket turns with the cam shaft. So the mark on the cam is sufficient to set timing, along with the crank shaft key at 12 o'clock.
But I have to admit I never did a head job on SAAB 9000. It is too complicated for my simplistic head, or I was afraid of screwing up like I did years ago. However, I have the engine section of the shop manual and a cylinder head (with bent valves, 94 9kcs) in my garage. Use me.
