in the intake system. Like a dirty air filter (or a cheap air filter) for instance. This will cause your turbo to suck excessive oil into the intake. Also, don't wiggle the turbo too often or you'll accelerate the wear. Anyway, according to your symptoms, sounds like your turbo is a bit long in the tooth, but it's got plenty of life left if you treat it right (proper warm up and cool down/spool down procedures etc...). Besides, some play is normal and I don't know how much play you're talking about. So, relax... there's not that much to worry about. As far as the boost problems go, your BPV may need some attention. Try cleaning it with WD-40 to see if that helps since it might be contaminated with oil. And, clean your AIC valve with carb cleaner.
