1900 9KT 2.0 liter
Car runs great but suffers from 2 things !
1. it jerks back and forth only on deceleration passing 1700 rpm mark
and remaining there for the next 100 rpm down. If I touch the throttle
the problem goes away. Note: this doesn't happen all the time and seems
to be speed related. If I let it decelerate from high speed, the problem
won't happen.
2. Once the engine runs for a couple of minutes, the out-of-gear idle starts climbing. The max it'll go is 1400 rpm. Problem here is the
turbo is not getting a chance to spool down slowly. when I want to turn
it off, I would quickly put it in "P" and turn engine "off"
I have replaced the TPS and AIC with used ones and that didn't help.
Then I replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor, thermostat, spark plugs, and PCV but that didn't help either.
I also spent considerable amount of time looking for vacuum leaks and
found two, one at the FPR and the second was from the Charcoal canister.
In my case the purge valve is defective.i.e. open all the time so I capped the intake nipple and let the vacuum line from the canister dangle.
What do you guys think ? I'm determined on my road trip (promised my wife so it's too late, we have the see the inlaws). Beside changing oil, do you think I should worry much. What are your experiences ? What are your opinions.
