(Regarding your post from a couple of days ago...)
I guess that explains a couple of performance questions I have had lately. Here in the desert Southwest, things have been pretty hot in the daytime, up to 105degF. I noticed a significant but not alarming performance drop in the high heat, the car would go, but needed some more prompting from the accellerator to do it.
I figured that the heat and thin air (5k+ feet above sea level) combined to starve the engine for needed oxygen for good performance. I don't like pushing a hot, overworked engine harder than necessary, so on the real hot days, I would just take it easy.
Your excellent description of the VR's job in limiting charge helps explain what I was observing.
When the temp drops below 90F, the car is right back up to full performance and fun factor. Could this be due to the VR putting out some more juice for not only battery charging, but also for use by the plugs?
At any rate, thanks for your consistenty thorough input!
Patrick
