I've had cars in the past that overheated and had the coolant boiling in the reservoir tank, and it was always a stuck thermostat. Could you have installed it incorrectly? There is a vent nipple that MUST be at the top when installed into the housing.

Also, your waterpump may be history.

BTW: in reference to Justin stating that his fan never came on when he had a full-loss of coolant, this is correct. The fan switch monitors the temp of the coolant. No coolant, then nothing to monitor. The heat of the airspace created from an empty cooling system is not dense enough for the fan switch to sense the temp.
