I took the AIC apart this weekend to 'see what I could see'. It was not very much fun releasing those tabs. Reinstalled the AIC and the throttlebody and noticed a loose small guage yellow wire with a female spade tip connector. Nothing in the vicinity looked like it mated except the starter (or whatever that thing is sitting on top of the tranny). Car started up fine, but whatever I did to the to AIC caused a 500RPM steady fluctuation in the idle (but it didn't stall!!). Disconnected the AIC and adjusted throttle cable and car ran fine and held idle. Looks like I'll be replacing the AIC. BTW, the car started fine once I disconnected the mystery cable from the 'starter'.
This cable runs in that cable raceway under the intake manifold and is strapped to the AIC cable. It has a brittle black plastic heat shield conduit around it. My coolant temp sensor wasn't working during my brief test drive to replenish my suds inventory, so I suspect this the sensor output cable (no way to tell for sure without taking everything back apart).
Any ideas what I plug this female connector to?
