The o-ring gets dry and a little brittle...

that's what's leaking. I think the heat from the block and oil do it over time.

Remove the plug-in harness, take out the two 10mm bolts, carefully slide out the level sensor, remove o-ring and replace with a new one, (at this point, I slather on some anaerobic gasket sealer) and put it back in place.
Snug down the bolts and you're good to go.

At the same time, you might consider changing the o-ring behind the oil filter housing. It's just about as easy, and also can leak pretty good. That o-ring is mysteriously expensive, about $8 at eeuroparts, and $16 at the dealer. Procedure: remove oil filter, carefully remove the two lines bolted into the housing, remove the center bolt of the filter housing (requires an oil pressure sending unit socket about 24mm or 30mm, I forget just now) the o-ring is right behind there. Same deal. Replace the oring and bolt every thing back up. One caution: the two steel lines going to the oil cooler that bolt into the aluminum housing; not too tight. Good and snug will do just fine. Steel into aluminum, I cracked the aluminum housing on one.
