high idle after exhaust fix

a couple of weeks ago I fixed a huge hole in the back box on my exhaust. To be more precise the tailpipe was about to fall off and used some goop called gunge gun and flexible collar to stick it back on.
Since then the car ('91 2.0l) has idled a bit high, 1100-1200 with no shuddering at all. It is always smooth and used to idle in the 900-1000 before the fix.
Are these related or is it a total coincidence (or just paranoia)?
How do I adjust the idle back down to a more laid-back level in any case?
Thanks
P.S. I'm a mechanical idiot so you might have to speek slowly
