Many thanks Eric and Mike. This morning I removed the master cylinder and booster to find the master cylinder rusty, yucky, scored and full of brown jelly. The space that the master cylinder fits into the booster was _full_ of same brown jelly and fluid, and the booster was full of brake fluid -almost to the vacuum pipe connection.
Wondering whether you've any idea whether I might expect the booster to be ok when emptied? I'm thinking when the end seal on the master cylinder went and the space between master cylinder and booster became full of fluid then the booster seals were likely subjected to full brakeline pressure (1000 psi?) much more than the 14 psi which the booster seals would normally take. Without the fluid, the seals might be ok??
Many thanks,
Terry
