Just like mine,,, DI!

Bucking seems to occur especially when your engine is "half cooled down" like stop for shoppin' for 1/2 hour and you continue driving (with bucking)... Then after a while a short burst of power and everything is ok again. if you start completely cooled down engine, it very very seldom bucks...

The bucking or "loss of power" can occur also on highway. I'd call this as "delayed bucking", since it always had a relation to a stop and go. For example after the pit-stop (stopped to fill up) and continued driving just suddenly the bucking came (approx after 20 km) and continued maybe for 5-15 km. Then suddenly everything was ok again. In this condition full boost is still present, but car is "just not moving".

Clear indication of rich mixture (smell from the tailpipe) - as you describe,,, BTW I thought that the Cat should remove the smell of gasoline?! there is a risk that Cat gets bad when driving excesively with rich mixture (in this case clear petrol in exhaust that overheats the cat).

Better get yourself a new DI Casette as spare and carry it and needed tools with you until you care to change the casette... My casette started and suddenly stopped for the last time on my home parking lot one nice morning about 1½ months ago. It did the bucking for approx 9 months,,, (I don't have cat!)

BTW change is easy takes maybe 10 minutes or so if you have tools with you... The DI connector has a "strange" clip, so don't try to force it open!

The FPR would most probably have a bit different symptoms (always lean or rich).
