Side wall tire repair? Lonnnnggg....

After a lovely company outing on Georges Island in Boston Harbor I returned to a parking garage to reclaim my '96 9K Aero. I found that due to the car I had parked next to, which was at a slight angle, I too had to park a bit awkwardly. Upon my return I found a newly parked car on the passenger side really sandwiched me in. I barely could fit in to situate my 2.5-year-old daughter into her car seat (one handed). I checked for any damage from their doors, etc., but did not see any.
However, the very next day I noticed that the rear passenger side tire was low. So I filled it, and then noticed what looks like a GASH in the sidewall. I am not a detective, nor do I play one on TV, but it appears quite obvious that someone did not like my parking job and retaliated with a knife into my tire? I am not typically a paranoid type of person, but I am also not naive.
With all that said, the gash does not appear to be too bad -meaning air is not gushing out, and it is at such an angle that it does not appear to have caused too much damage, just enough for air to seep out slowly. I have had to add air about every other day since last Thursday (08/21/03). Is their any repair for sidewall damage as described above? I am reluctant to ask a tire shop because they are in business to sell tires, and I can already guess what their answer would be.
Thanks.
P.S. The Boston Harbor Islands are beautiful! And GO SOX!
