How long have you had the Stratmosphere BPV? I'm assuming it's of the piston-style (as opposed to stock diaphragm-style).
I have a Hyperboost from Stratmosphere which is of a better, improved design over the older style (Forge). The internals and o-rings are made of better materials, and it is lubed with Mobil 1 grease.
I have one because of the higher psi's the turbo puts out due to a Stage 3 ECU. It works great, except that it introduced turbo-lag which I never had before.
I've stretched the spring within the BPV to "pre-load" it, since these things are built on Audi-specs, and Saabs need a higher pre-loaded amount of pressure to get these things going. By stretching the spring (1/2" at a time--use a ruler to measure it and then test it each time), it lowers the amount of lag. I've never been able to get rid of all of the lag, but most of it is eliminated.
Also, when I was using the stock BPV, the turbo gauge would be pinned beyond the red. Now with the Hyperboost, it gets close to the end of the red, and then slowly backs off as the rpm's approach 5K.
Also, these things need to be cleaned at least once a year. You have to unscrew the body and remove the piston and spring and clean all the black grime inside, then re-lube with grease, preferably Mobil 1. Not keeping up with this will slow the spring from reacting to the "up and down" action as the boost comes in and releases.
This may not be your answer, but it's something I deal with and sounds similar to your dilemma.
I'm more inclined to go back to a diaphragm-style, but it would have to be of the Viggen model (part # ending in 110) to handle the extra psi. But until then, the Hyperboost will have to do.
