Does it help to engage the starter if you tap it with hammer?
Then most probably you need only new starter motor brushes...
Starter is actually quite simple thing.
There is one lead coming from ignition switch, when this is energized (+12V) then the solenoid in the starter connects the power (+12V) supplied straight from the battery to the motor.
So If you supply power from battery positive pole to the ignition lock connector (the thinner wire in the starter), then the starter motor should start to rotate. BTW, you may also use a small watt bulb to check if the electricity comes through the ingition switch.
If above scenario works every time when you try, then you may dig into the ingnition lock/other power supply instead of starter motor.
If no go when supplying power then you'd better check and replace first the brushes on the starter
If still not working, check the solenoid - the winding might be bad.
Before you start all the troubleshooting with the starter, check also the grounding of the motor (and battery + / - poles) they might be corroded and thus there is not engough juice for the starter... Also the ignition switch connector in the starter motor might be corroded...
NB! Starter is connected with a thick wire straight to the battery, very high energy levels exist and if you short the battery it may explode! If you jumpstart the starter, make sure your car is on neutral!
You can try to find the parts in automotive (electicity) service shops...
