Do yourself a favor and just torch the entire car and buy another one. That way you won't have to worry about the pictogram for a while. It'll save you time and stress, plus you'll get to drive a different car, and enjoy watching the flames shoot out of the one the insurance would then own.
I troubleshot my pictogram for about 3 months. I could only get it to go out by putting a 5 watt less bulb in one side. Go figure.
The best advice is to know that the pictogram will only light when the bulbs that are pulling different voltage are lit. I.E., If it's your brake lights giving you trouble, then the pictogram should only light when the brake pedal is pushed. If it's your running lights, then it'll light only when those lights are one. (And don't forget about the lamp in the rear hatch)
Secondly, on automatic saabs, the pictogram comes on when you start the car. You have to push the brake to get it to go off.
The pictogram measures voltage (or resistance can't remember). If one side is higher than the other, it causes the pictogram to come on. Therefore if you have a blown bulb, bad ground, bad wiring, etc on one side, it'll cause the pictogram to light. It's very sensatative, especially on older models.
Good luck, and e-mail me if you need any further info.
