Hi all,

I previously posted about a noisy throw out bearing that ceased. In case any are curious, I replaced the bearing this weekend with the help of my brother. The job really was not too bad at all, except that, we have a problem with one of the tranny bolts in the back. Using an air impact wrench we dropped the subframe by disconnecting the 4 front frame bolts, 4 back bolts (rear control arm +2) and disconnected the hub at the strut (2 bolts), finally removed the caliper and tie rod. Voila.

The bearing was completely distroyed, all the ball bearings were on the bottom of the bell housing with inner and outter shells still lingering on the slave. Stunning.

We manuevered the tranny by hanging chain looped on a pipe. The chain was attached to the tranny but a "support tab" that is on the all trannies. The pipe laid perfectly across on the gap between the valve cover and the intake, resting on the cleavage between the top engine mount and the valve cover on the passenger side, and the ignition ampifier housing served on the driver's side served as a stopper.

Hopefully this repair is the last of a little while, for the winter is coming and a Russian bears like me likes to hibernate.
