Engine vibration – something else to check

My engine/drivetrain has felt a bit coarse recently, with a little vibration under power. Well, I have a JT exhaust and at the weekend I realised that the rubber hanger at the back end of the long straight section behind the catalyst had broken. When we got it up on the hoist we found that a couple of others are on the way out.
The fitter phoned in an order for the correct hangers, and temporarily hooked up the pipe on something that more or less fitted. Result – a much smoother and, subjectively, slightly quieter car! I look forward to having everything properly hung in a day or so, but obviously having that big exhaust flapping in the breeze was causing some vibration. Something cheap and easy to check, which may not just affect JT owners.
