95' 9000 Aero, 5 spd, TCS, 125kms

My cold start problems have been going on for three weeks now - I'm starting to lose that Saab loving feeling....

Symptoms: Car is completely cold (left overnight, air temp. around 10C)
Try to start in the morning - fires up fine but stalls after 5-10 seconds. I then retry, holding the revs as the cars misfires and sputters then stalls again. I go through this about a dozen times until the car suddenly seems to work fine. Then it performs flawlessly through out the day.

Sometimes the CEL goes on during this stalling and indicates (by the number of flashs) Air Intake temp. sensor, MAP sensor and O2 sensor. But after driving for a while the CEL disappears.

So far I've done the following: new Plugs, new DI, checked/replaced all vac lines (except charcoal canister), new air intake temp. sensor, new MAP sensor, new fuel pump relay, thoroughly cleaned throttle body and butterfly valve. added fuel line cleaner to gas tank.

A few people have suggested a faulty (weak) fuel pump. Question; if the pump is the problem why would it only show during cold starts?? And the car would not fire up again after each stall... would it? I replaced the relay since apparently they can fault intermittently.

Another question: When trying to keep the revs up after stalling, the revs go from 500 rpm up to 3000 rrpm without any change in gas pedal pressure - is this just the electoric throttle trying to compensate for something or could it be a clue to the problem (bad ECU or bad electronic throttle?) Anyway the stalling sounds (to my untrained ear) to be due to poor air/fuel mix - bad injectors?? Again, why would they only be bad when cold?

Should I remove the right inner fender to check the lines to the charcoal canister - would that match these symptoms?

Any Saab guru out there with other suggestions? Many thanks in advance.
