I have a Saab 9000 1988 (2.0) with a automatic ransmission problem. The car only has 87,456 miles on it. I bought it a couple of months ago and have run into problems after only 1200 miles. The transmission started making a whistle or whining noise and stopped running in gear. It would run after a cool down though. We found out that the cooling line had gone bad so we ended up with a fkluid exchange. We put in a new radiator and took out about 4 quarts of AT fluid (2 times) and changed the screen. My tech did not want to flush and change all of the fluid for fear the viscosity would have an adverse effect on the tranny. The car runs ok but has a whining noise after about 15 minutes of driving. Then, after a cool down it runs ok. Once in a while the gear change is slow but this is not consistent. What do I do? The car is close to immaculate, no wear or tear anywhere. Not even dirty in door wheels. Part of the problem is it sat a lot. I got the car for my son, but he won’t be able to afford the repairs. What can I do to sell it? What’s it worth? Do I have any recourse with the guy who sold it me? Here’s my email if you don’t mind sending your comments here as well– your response will get to me quicker: tbarolin@barolin-spencer.com.
Thanks,
Tony
