I just did the driver's side on my 95 Aero but is very simular on your 89. The left driver's side is definitely easier to change, remove the wheel, plastic inner cover and axle. Once the axle is removed feel inside the cup for groves, mine was shot, deep groves in it. If bad then you will have to change it - there are 5 bolts, my 95 has torx bolts, earlier models like your 89 should have the conventional bolts that bolt the cup into the gearbox, put a oil pan under it because when you remove it some gearbox oil will drain out. Mine just pulled right out but I have seen them where they are hard to remove, if you pull and wiggle and at last resort gently pry it out, be very careful for the flange is made of aluminum and can crack relatively easy. installation is the reverse of removal. I also did the right passenger side on my buddy's 93 Aero, was a little more involved because it required the removal of motor mount bracketfrom the mount and engine block , also I lot of jacking the engine, etc
