After being without a 9000 for a couple years (bought a 9-5, and concurrently a series of el cheapo beaten pickup trucks), I came back to the 9000 fold with an '88 turbo that I picked up off eBay for under $300. It's now my winter car/airport car/pickup truck substitute. Here's some of what I've stuffed into my 9000s over the years:
-6' wide Steelcase office desk (legs had to come off) plus all drawers. Hatch closed and latched ('86 9kT)
-Treadmill ('93 Aero)
-Rented lawn aerator. Used piece of plywood as a ramp over the bumper and loaded/unloaded it solo. Hatch stayed up for this one ('86 9kT).
-C900 auto trans in hatch, parcel shelf in place. Transmission was on a dolly (9k Aero)
-2x 10+' trees (in pots) (both cars, hatch closed, trees from back to windshield
-8' Christmas trees (top of tree fits between front seats)
-Clothes dryer
-32" television set...
