1990 9000 brake question

I just traded my 1987 9000T for a 1990 9000T with brake problems. The problem was seeminly simple- the pedal is stiff, though I can stop the car with both feet.
I thought I could replace the master cylinder and booster unit and be good to go, but I just discovered that this car has an ABS system that uses a high-pressure electric system. There are "ABS" and "BRAKE FLUID" warning lights on simultaneously even though there is fluid in the reservoir.
My mechanic who worked on all my previous Saabs is admittedly unfamiliar with the components in this car, and is not sure what needs to be replaced since he does not have the proper computer to diagnose the system.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else out there? I would just like to know which of these components to replace (and what they are called) so I don't have to have the car towed over 100 miles to the nearest dealer.
Thanks
