New clutch in '97CS; almost perfect shifts now...

Just replaced orignial clutch (and slave cyclinder/rear main seal) at 122K miles. It had deteriorated at such a slow rate I had forgotten what a properly working clutch felt like. Also had mech take out whatever was in the gearbox and replace with whatever synthetic Saab uses in the manual tranmissions.
Now just the dreaded occasional grind going from 1st to 2nd (unless I use the "pause" technique). Is that the synchro, or could be other explanation? Where else to look (motor mounts, other)?
