I think it's also interesting to look at "A Decade of SAAB 9000 ACC History" - can you tell that I think this is one of the more interesting parts of the 9000 series? ...again..paraphrased

MY1986
- Compressor relocated to center to ease repair
- Extra electric cooling fan added to the front of the cooler group in certain high-temperature climates
- 3 stage pressure switch added to control cooling fans
- Software versioning adds 10 second compressor start delay after engine is started

MY1987
- Forced air fan integrated in to cabin temp sensor
- Side defroster air vents integrated in to speaker grills
- ACC LED illumination performed automatically via communication with EDU

MY1988
- Rear Door fans added
- Floor plenums redesigned for more even air distribution
- New 7 piston compressor used

MY1990
- First major update to ACC in 5 years - ACC II, 16-bit microprocessor
- Built in diagnosis, coding with ISAT/Tech-II
- Door fan controls moved and controlled directly by ACC Control Panel
- "OFF" Button added
- Can now store user programmable settings
- Sun sensor relocated to center dash, and now senses sun angle, as well as intensity

MY1992
- Rear AC Unit adds cooling capacity to "CD" and "CDE" models in certain markets. ACC Control Panel gets a "REAR" button
- R134a replaces R-12 in early-adoption countries

MY1993
- R134a across all markets
- Rear AC unit discontinued as an option for all markets.

MY1994
- Introduce use of Sekurisol heat-absorving glass
- Solar sensor updated to compensate for use of new glass
- New ACC Software version for enhanced temperature control
- Redesigned heater box, increases air flow to floor area

MY1995
- Minor refresh of ACC Control Panel, eliminating "blank" button previously used for Rear AC option.
- Computational electronics of sun sensor removed
- New ACC Software revision adds sun sensor computational routines and includes minor revisions for enhanced temperature control.
