One rubber seal is usually fried, I've reused the other seals with no further problem. The earlier (up to 94?) transmissions had a governor pressure port on the left (as sitting in the car) side of the tranny. Any pressure on this port when the car is not moving with the engine running indicates a bad seal. Many times people don't seem to realize there is a seal problem until the car tries to start in 3rd or 4th. You can tell a second gear start by a light bump that occurs just as you are moving off at moderate or heavier throttle. In this case it has started in 2nd and makes a quick shift to 1st before the car has moved 10 or 20 feet.
