Strange highway hesitation on '93 9000 CSE Posted by turbosaab [Email] (#9999) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turbosaab) on Mon, 27 Oct 2003 17:02:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just bought a '93 9000 CSE turbo, and I noticed a strange phenomenon on the highway. If I am going anywhere from 55 to 65mph and I start to gradually accelerate (say after I've been coasting for a bit), with the turbo boost just in the yellow, after approximately 3 seconds the car will act like I suddenly took my foot off the gas - the boost will drop slightly into the white, and it also feels like there is a change in resistance in the gas pedal (is this possible?). If I push the gas pedal down further, it will accelarate normally again.
The problem occurs consistently under these conditions, but I haven't noticed any strange behavior under other conditions (although I've only driven the car 400 miles, almost all highway). It does not feel like the engine is stumbling or running rough, everything seems very smooth. Turbo boost is strong and consitent under full acceleration, both with the fuel in the tank when I bought it and the 93 octane I filled it with. It is a 5-speed and does have bad motor mounts, if that might matter.
Thanks for any ideas you might have...
