"ABSOLUTELY NOT !" .... was the kind of responses I got when I had my autobox rebuilt at 165000kms. This came from the tranny shop and several other service shops. Apparently the constant shifting into D puts strain and wear on the clutch plates and other internal components. Unless you're at a railroad crossing or some roadway construction situation where you can expect to be stopped for at least 3-5 minutes, keep tranny in D. It's a lot cheaper to replace brake shoes than a whole tranny.
