On the location of the mixer arm: there's a photo on quasi's site, although it's a picture of his former 9k (somewhere around '88 IIRC), the thing is still in the same place; easiest way to find it is to take off the cover, switch the current on and have someone move the acc from LO to HI and back, you will see it moving. Check if it moves the flap, because people here reported it can fall off/ break.
Basically it's at the rear of the aquarium in the middle, between the evap and te blower motor box iirc. already some time ago I looked at that for the last time.
Self test/ calibrate: hold auto (top left) and vent (lowest right). the ACC will run through the settings (indicator lights will light up one after another) if it keeps on displaying "0" it doesn't see a problem, any number indicates the number of faults. I do not think you can diagnose furhter on a '96 ACC2, but I might be wrong. AFAIK you will need a techII computer to go any further.
Good luck,
Jan Geert
