If you're in the rust belt like me, there is a build up of rust on the sliding surfaces between the pad and caliper. I had a rear caliper freeze up due to this. File down to bare metal and put your copper grease on these surfaces. AeroGuy likes copper, now put out by Locktite, good enough for me! I use a dab of copper grease or antivibration pad to help prevent squealing. Also use a file to make a 1mm bevel on the edge of the pad. It is supposed to prevent the vibration which causes squeals from getting started.
I still remove both wheels, car on jackstands, and do one brake at a time. Then I can look at the other brake if I'm confused about how to get back together.
I bend a wire coathanger to support the caliper and hang it out of the way on the springs once it is unbolted. Don't want to hang the caliper by the brake line, or your job may get a lot bigger.
Good time to flush brakes, which should be done at least every two years.
Be patient!
